Does this sound familiar?

You know something is off.

  • Tired no matter how much you sleep
  • Foggy, flat, or more anxious than you used to be
  • Weight shifting to your middle
  • Periods heavier, closer together or less predictable
  • Hair shedding, feeling cold, or aching
  • Told it is stress, a busy life, or your age

Most women who find us are in one of two places

You have been told everything is normal

You have had blood tests and been told they are fine. Often a few key markers were left off, or the results sit inside the range while you feel far from fine. The guide shows you what may be missing and the ranges we work to in clinic, so you can look at your results with fresh eyes.

You have never been properly tested

Maybe you only had a basic panel, or were told you are a busy mum at 36, or that it is just perimenopause at 48, before anything was ordered. Maybe you have never had bloods at all. The guide gives you the full list to ask for and a checklist to take with you.

"I just don't feel like myself, and nobody seems to know why."

Inside the guide

What you will learn

The nine tests worth asking about, and the full panel to request for each one, so nothing gets left off the form.

Why TSH on its own can miss a thyroid problem for years, and the antibodies that show it much earlier.

How insulin resistance builds for years while your glucose looks perfect, and the simple test that picks it up first.

How you can be iron deficient with a normal blood count, and what full iron studies show that ferritin alone can miss.

The ranges we work to in clinic, so you can look at your own results with fresh eyes.

A one page checklist for your appointment, plus an optional hormone panel timed to your cycle if you still have a period.

Starting HRT, or already on it?

Hormone therapy can be an excellent choice, and it works on one part of the picture. Thyroid, iron, B12 and insulin sit alongside it and are worth checking either way. Everything in the guide applies whether you take hormone therapy or not.

Why these tests get missed

The reasons are structural

GPs work inside all three of these every day. Knowing about them makes it much easier to ask for what you need.

1

Lab ranges are built to detect disease

A result inside the range means disease has not been found. It says less about how well things are working for you.

2

Some tests have funding limits

Most are covered most of the time. A few, like a full thyroid panel, are only funded in certain circumstances.

3

Appointments are short

A standard consult rarely has room to unpick fatigue, mood, sleep, weight and cycle changes all at once.

We are the family naturopathic clinic people come to when something is not resolving and they want someone to look properly. We work alongside GPs and specialists, via telehealth Australia-wide.

Every symptom tells a story.

  • Testing-led careWe use pathology to prioritise what we do, so treatment is aimed at what is actually going on.
  • We work with your GPWe write referral letters setting out what we are asking for and why, and can request pathology privately where that is simpler.
  • We teach other practitionersOur team mentors practitioners and presents clinical education on reading pathology.
  • One clinical frameworkWhichever of our naturopaths you see, you get the same approach and the same care with your results.
